Description

Blue Iguana is one of longest species of iguanas and they’re known to have a solitary lifestyle .Their color ranges from dusky blue to dark grey. The males usually have a dark grey to turquoise blue.  While females are more olive green to pale blue. They’re very active in the day-time, and enjoy sleeping at night. The males are very lazy in the non-breeding seasons and get up very late. They eat a lot in these seasons and usually remains motionless for hours. The females on the other hand they defend a small territory compared to males and no adults are allowed there. Stay away massage is communicated through vigorous head bobbing. The blue iguanas are herbivores and they fed on stems, leaves fruits and flowers.

The iguanas like to live in small rock holes in the day time. Most iguanas live in rocky forests which contain cactus and other thorny plants. They can also be found in semi-deciduous forests, scrub woodlands as well as dry-to-subtropical, moist forests .They can make great pets and they’re life span is around 60 years in human care, but need a great deal of attention

The wild iguanas have a short life span compared to pet iguanas, their life span is about 25- 40 years. Females lay eggs up to 21 in June or July.











Blue are very rare and human activities like deforestation, industrialization, and urbanization has pose a threat to these iguana lizards. And also free roaming dogs and cats are also posing a threat of predation to them. They were once in extinction but in the present increase of the species is recorded. So we should help these species to survive in the future world.
