Sierra Nevada Yellow-Legged Frog
Description
Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog is also known as the Sierra Nevada Mountain yellow-legged frog. This frog is endemic to the Sierra Nevada of California and Nevada. According to its conservation status it is an Endangered. This frog is similar to the southern mountain yellow-legged frog. This frog eats dead frogs and its own eggs. It is about 1.5 – 3.25 inches. Females lay about 100 – 350 eggs. They live in meadows, lake and in ponds. They spend the winter at the bottom of the frozen lakes. In years of heavy snowy they may only be active for about 3 months. It takes 5 to 8 years for these frogs to start reproducing.
