Yosemite Toad

Description

This toad is Native to Sierra Nevada, California. Yosemite Toad is similar to Western frog. The female toad is larger than the male. According to Yosemite toad’s conservation status it is an Endangered Animal. Tadpoles are about 10- 37 mm. They feed on beetles, ladybirds, weevils, caterpillars, dragonflies, owl flies, flies, spider mites and dozens of other insects. These toads breed in wet meadows, in lake margins and in riparian areas. Yosemite toads are explosive breeders. Male Yosemite toad’s lifespan is about 12 years and the female Yosemite toad’s lifespan is about 15 years.

Distribution

These toads are Endemic to Sierra Nevada, California.

Yosemite toads are active for only 4 -5 months per year and now the number of Yosemite toads is declined.
